ENHANCEMENT OF LIVING STANDARDS IN ANDIJAN REGION

The overall objective of the project is to provide assistance in enhancement of living standards through support to the development of regional and local strategic assessments aimed to the enhancement of living standards of the population in Andijan region

Project strategy

The project strategy in Andijan is to test and replicate the participatory development approaches successfully introduced by the ELS projects in Karakalpakstan, Namangan Phase I and Fergana regions. The focus is on capacity building of local authorities and institutions in regional planning, and concrete pilot applications of development planning at community level.

The project strengthens the policy planning capacity of local and regional authorities in Andijan and supports increased capacity of regional authorities, improved dialogue with and stronger involvement of the Mahalla system in regional planning for the implementation and monitoring of the Welfare Improvement Strategy. It also reinforces coordination of international assistance in Andijan region and identifies best practices in enhancement of living standards.

The project continues the process of donor coordination, initiated by the ELS programme through coordination of assistance for enhancement of living standards in Andijan region and exclusion of doubling activities, determining and implementation of best practice for improving living standards in Andijan region and encouragement of support from EU member states for the indicated methodology and further fundraising.
