MCC Hamid Olimjon is one of the most densely populated areas of Turakurgan district, where the majority of population is youth. Being industrious, like the rest of Uzbek nation, the mahalla population cultivates prolific gardens, grows melons and gourds, cotton, grapes, vegetables, and keeps bee-farms. A new project for using alternative energy sources has recently been launched in "Bog kucha" mahalla of Uchkurgan district in support of the EU/UNDP "Enhancement of living standards in Fergana Valley” Programme. On November 22, 2011, EU/UNDP “Enhancement of Living Standards in Fergana Valley” project has conducted one day experience exchange study tour for the community members from Samarkand region, representatives of UNDP Project “Integrated Water Resources Management and Water Efficiency Plan for Zarafshan River Basin” (IWRM) and local authorities from Kashkadarya region.
