| Bringing Income Generation Initiatives Closer to Communities |

![]() This week the EU-UNDP Enhancement of Living Standards in Fergana Valley (ELS) Programme organized a practical seminar at one of the demonstration plots in Uychi district of Namangan region. The seminar was on domestic aviculture and was attended by members of small farmer and dehkhan farms, and specialists from Fergana Valley, Kashkadarya region and Karakalpakstan. The demonstration sites test and demonstrate modern and advanced technologies in agriculture that promote and improve the quality of agri-production. Since 2005, the ELS has been supporting income generation initiatives in rural areas. The programme is financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP with support from Government of Uzbekistan. Currently, the ELS programme working in Andijan, Namangan and Fergana regions in selected private farms created more than 100 demonstration sites for early vegetable and greenhouse farming, beekeeping, livestock and poultry production, drip irrigation and etc. |
