Since Independence Uzbekistan has paid great attention to reforming the public health care system. This has included actions in all regions of the country to enhance access to high quality first aid. A vivid example of this is the modern specialized medical centers created throughout the country and equipped with the latest equipment necessary for providing high quality health care services.Within the framework of reforms conducted by the Government, during the last several years special attention has been paid to the improvement of healthcare services in rural and remote areas of the country. Previously, in the village "Kenagas" of Pap district the population was forced to travel 20 km each time they required specialized medical attention. However, thanks to the initiative of the Hokimiyat of Pap district, the communities of “Kenagas”, “Kushtepa”, “Nayman” and technical assistance received from the EC and UN within the framework of “Enhancement of Living Standards in Ferghana Valley” programme, this distance was substantially decreased with the establishment of the rural medical post “Kenagas”. The administration of the district provided the building, the population assisted in the renovation works and the ELS project provided the necessary materials. The contribution from the mahalla made up 69% of the total overall cost. Currently all necessary construction materials have been supplied and works are being implemented. Once the reconstruction works are finished more than 5000 people from remote parts of Namangan region will have improved access to primary health services for. |
